Upcoming Games:
Lost Ark. That’s it. One (I guess two) words. Lost Ark is a Korean hack ‘n’ slash MMO RPG that has launched in Korea/Russia/Japan for basically a decade already. And if you’re part of the cult following in the West, you’ve probably done one of two things:
Wishing you stay alive long enough to experience the game in the West
Couldn’t wait and used a VPN to play the game on the Russian servers
Sadly, I’m in the first bucket. HOWEVER. The game officially launches on Feb 11th (Feb 8th if you pre-order) with Amazon purchasing the publishing rights for the game (the company behind New World). If you’re a fan of the Diablo series or Path of Exile, you will love this game! The highlights for us are the combat, progression, and side quests that make up a large portion of the game.
Although not doing it justice, you can see the Game Award launch trailer here:
Tips & Tricks:
League of Legends:
If you’ve played League of Legends (or heard of it at some point), things just got 10x easier. U.GG is a popular site aggregating the top builds, tier lists, and general stats of your gameplay in real time as you take your champion into the rift. If you haven’t already used the site, it’s a huge time saver.
They team have just announced a desktop application with an in-game overlay. I have tried other ones (most notably Overwolf, Porofessor), and I have huge promise of the strength of this one. Check it out for yourself here: https://u.gg/app?utm_source=uggapp
Valorant:
After playing Valorant, the team and I decided we have zero clue on what the latest agent did - zero clue. We did find something to help with this, and even though we got clapped the game after, we did learn a thing or two:
Indie Corner:
Hades:
If you haven’t checked it out by now, this month is a great time. Hades is a rouge-like dungeon crawler created and published by Supergiant Games available on Stream, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. Personally, I am a huge fan of dungeon crawlers, and Hades lives up to its hype. To put my money where my mouth is -
Hugo Award for Best Video Game
BAFTA Games Award for Best Game
Nebula Award for Game Writing
The Game Award for Best Independent Game
BAFTA Games Award for Narrative
… to name only a few.
We have played through the game and started to realise why this was the case - great game-play, satisfying progress, increasing difficulty, and an amazing narrative that keeps you engaged. It’s currently priced at $35.95 AUD - a steal compared to other AAA games.
Streamer of the Week:
And now to my favourite section - the Australia and New Zealand streamer of the week!
Our streaming community has grown quite a bit - COVID or not - and has allowed amazing content streamers to shine and provide entertainment to our local community - which we love. This week, we have chosen: https://www.twitch.tv/illacent
Callum is an Australian streamer who primarily plays Genshin Impact and dabbles into FPS Games, Variety, and Horror. He streams 9PM AEDT and has an active chat community. What we love about illacent is his chat engagement and chill vibes during the stream. Give him a follow here:
